4 Retinal Acuity Meter (The formerly Illuminated Near Card)

This brightly illuminated hand-held potential vision tester measures retinal acuity in eyes with cataract, maculopathy, and glaucoma.  Retinal Acuity testing requires two related tools, the Retinal  Acuity Meter or RAM® (formerly known as the Illuminated Near Card) and the RAM Pinhole Clip™ (clip with a pinhole disc and hinged lens).  The fastest, easiest, and most accurate potential vision on the market.  More Info...

4 Panoramic Pinhole Clip and Trial Frame Disc

The AMA Optics Panoramic Pinhole adds value to prospective cataract patients by giving them a realistic perspective of their forecasted vision after cataract removal.

After recording a favorable outcome with the RAM® or RAM® Plus system using the standard pinhole clip, performing a subsequent patient test with the RAM® system and the Panoramic Pinhole will allow the physician to build greater confidence and obtain a more thorough patient consent for the cataract removal procedure.

The patient’s view of the reading window on the Retinal Acuity Meter RAM® through the Panoramic Pinhole lets the patient experience a comparative view of their current “poor” vision and their subsequent forecasted “good” vision after surgery. This greatly enhances the surgeon’s ability to obtain commitment and acceptance of the procedure from the patient. In addition, the Panoramic Pinhole will help surgeon and the patient determine the feasibility of selection for multi-focal or mono-focal IOLs.

William Taylor of NYC, a patient of Steven Kane, PhD, MD of Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center, commented, "The letters are much darker and clearer through the pinhole than between the pinholes; I now clearly see the benefit of removing my cataract."  After surgery he commented, "The test is a marvel and only takes a moment.  It gave me the courage to have the surgery and I can see as clearly as predicted".

4RAM Pinhole Clip

The multiple-perforated pinhole disc has a hinged +2.50 diopter lens attached that flips up and down.  It can be clipped onto the patient's glasses or inserted into the distal lens receptacle of the trial frame.  This versatile clip accommodates a wide variety of retinal acuity testing situations.
